Hino Aki lived in the slums and lived a life of petty crime to survive. When he was twelve, a gang beat him near to death and shot him. He survived, but both his legs are unusable now. For the longest time, nothing could be done for him. He was stuck at home when he was not at school, and the boys would follow him home and throw rocks at him or dump his books on the ground. He got used to it. Or at least he learned how to tolerate it, if such things can be tolerated. Things got a little better when his dad landed a high paying job and they were able to move to a better neighborhood. Aki is always seen in a wheelchair, though every now and again he uses crutches. He is determined to live as normal a life as possible while his mother tries to baby him and says he cannot do anything for himself. His father agrees with Aki that he should be left to his own devices, but the parents cannot agree. So long as Aki's father maintains that he has his freedoms, Aki is alright with it. He plays the guitar and bass. He performs in the band Kakashitsu, and he always shows up on stage sitting down. Aki is only fourteen now, and he dreams of being an artist. He is very good at landscapes and dogs, his favorite mediums being lead pencils and watercolor paints. Aki has shaggy black hair and dull gray eyes. He speaks with a slightly Chinese accent that he picked up from his mother who was born and raised in China before meeting his father. Aki is an only child and has two dogs: a great Pyrenees named Aoi and a Doberman named Zuko.
